This is where I have a problem. I have said repeatedly that mods are human beings who make judgment calls, some of which where reasonable minds will differ.
But when certain individual(s) gloat about the silencings, and themselves have sent harassing PMs.. Then their hands are not clean... And if nothing is done about that, then there is an accountability issue contributing to the "toxic environment" in the community.
This is why I keep calling for an official leader reporting protocol. This is why others keep asking for transparency with the small counsel and who is on it.
It would be easier to accept banning and silencing decisions if the community felt like there was equal accountability across the board, but that is not the message a lot of people are receiving at the moment.
I've been told my suggestion is being sent up the chain, and I think if it's taken seriously and done in a meaningful way, it could go a long way toward addressing the "toxicity" in the community.
Until then, there is a substantive amount of the community who feel like they are being told to shut up and accept it, while others are not held to the same level of scrutiny. I think this is the core of the problem. Maybe it's a perception issue and not what is actually happening, but that perception issue can be addressed with a meaningful way to ensure all player voices are heard, especially when it comes to reporting harassing and inappropriate behavior.
