As you all know, DragonSoul has been transferred to Gree Japan for future development and management.
Today is the last day for me and my team in the San Francisco office, so it's a fitting time to say my goodbyes.
I first started working on DragonSoul back in Madison, Wisconsin while I worked for a small developer called PerBlue. We wanted to create a mobile RPG that had more polish and personality than many of the other entries we saw in the space. Obviously, that project became DragonSoul.
Eventually I missed my friends and the climate of California, so I left PerBlue but continued to do creative consulting - hero, story, environment, items, etc. Then I got word that the game was being sold and I was put in touch with Gree who gave me the opportunity to join them full time, which I graciously accepted (insurance and simple taxes are great).
Fast forward almost exactly a year (my first day in-office at Gree was November 1, 2016) and this wild journey is coming to an end for me. I don't know where I'll be going next, but my plan is to continue to try to make better games for whoever will give me money to do so (rent costs $ ).
I'll still try to swing by the forums now and then - as a fellow fan of DragonSoul, and you can find me in-game on Server 1 as [DS] Sven (Retired).
Thank you so much for being the best community of gamers I've ever had the pleasure to work with. Your passion, honesty, and critical thinking about the game. Sometimes you made my job harder, but I'll always take committed and thoughtful players over disengaged and disinterested.
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your time with DragonSoul, and I hope we will cross paths again!
