To get everyone caught up, what we know at this point: (subject to change ofc)
Runes 2.0 is NOT a thing.
The game is in a state of transition from the existing San Francisco and Berlin based teams to a new team (of experienced developers) in Tokyo.
That transition will occur over the course of the next month-ish. (I don't have any "official" dates or timelines, this is approximate).
NO MAJOR CHANGES are anticipated during that time. (I'm not considering Chapter22 a "major" change. it's ETA is still "soon".)
Whether or not to deploy runes (likely modeled exactly as is currently on s2-s6) is a decision that will be made by the new dev team some time AFTER they have become more familiar with the game and it's inner workings (or not workings as the case may be).
So far majority opinion appears to favor "anything is better than nothing" and the current developers are recommending the release of runes as-is. GS will continue to advocate in favor of releasing as-is runes to servers 7+, as well as ongoing improvements to that system.
Any questions beyond this probably cannot be answered at this time. But please ask them so we know what to keep up on in the future.
