In the GS meeting, we discussed at length many of the points you have just brought up, so let me address them for you now. First, this is STILL one of if not the best app game out there in my opinion, believe me I've tried A LOT of them searching for something better. Nothing has even come close.
Gree has heard the players screaming no new heroes and they are doing their best to comply. The thing that you have to remember is that new heroes mean revenue for the game and revenue means not only profits for the company but also resources for the developers to continue to improve the game. They cannot completely eliminate new character creation but they are definitely scaling back on it starting with chapter 24. This chapter will have only 2 new heroes associated with it instead of the normal 3-4. @DSKenshirou_X has also indicated that if future resource reallocation is needed they may adjust this number even more. The main point here is that the new team is committed to finding a suitable compromise.
Next, they will be sharing a detailed road map of things to come this year within the next few weeks. However, I can give you some general ideas that was revealed to us in the meeting. There will be a new guild game mode added and we will face Umlaut in the future. Once again, think about the amount of man hours and financial resources required to come up with major new content of this magnitude. Now, consider the amount of resources required to track down and investigate all the existing issues crypt, guild war, runes, character balancing, and quality of life issues. How would you prioritize EVERYTHING, especially if you eliminate a major source of revenue by not creating any new heroes?
One more point I would like to address... you stated:__ "Maybe better guild chat? Seriously? Like that's at the top of their development priority list? We didn't care about that and guilds were full when the game was being kept fresh by Per Blue."
Improving/fixing the chat system is at the top of their priority list because WE DID CARE ABOUT THAT. In fact, the chat system is one of if not THE MOST complained/requested areas to be addressed. Players agree that what makes this game truly special and unique is the sense of community interaction we all share with our friends and guild mates. The ability to communicate easily and efficiently with them is of the utmost importance to the majority of players. I for one, am ecstatic that the chat system will finally be given the attention it deserves.
Finally, as to the question of spending, I'm not here to encourage or dissuade anyone to spend. That is a personal choice, which is none of my business. All I can say is this... I do not doubt for a moment that Gree is spending substantial amounts of money on future development of this game. Anyway, I hope this helps answer some of your questions or at least lends a new perspective to the discussion.
