I created a new guild on server 1 in the week of March 11th. By the week of March 25th we had secured 11 players and thus we registered for our first week of Guild Wars that Monday. We gained another 3 players between the start and end of the first battle - at which point one member opted himself out while on vacation. So at the start of the 2nd battle we had 13/14 players opted in. We continued to add new members (our guild settings were Application Only) over the course of the week.
On March 28, after our 4th battle was finished, sometime around 2-4 hours before the next ticket was set to come in, I logged in to see that our guild was no longer registered for war. We still had 13/14 players opted in. I immediately filed a ticket as did several other members of the guild.
I believe this issue was caused by two factors working together:
- an obsolete and regrettable feature of GW where if a guild drops below either 50% total members opted in, or 10 members, they are immediately deregistered from war for the remainder of the week.
- an apparent bug with GW defensive opt-in* that takes effect when the guild settings are set to "Application Only" - basically what happens is for some reason, the player that accepts an application from a prospective member will be defensively opted out. I am not certain if this is limited to the next defensive battle or for the remainder of the week, although with what happened to us, I would not be surprised if it's the latter.
Basically, we kept gaining members during the week between the beginning (having 11 opted in) and Wednesday morning, when we were suddenly deregistered. I believe our defensive opt-outs somehow reached 9, which means we likely received 2 or 3 applications which were accepted by different members, causing them to be silently opted out (not shown in Members screen). This caused our guild to be removed from war and we lost out on valuable time climbing the ranks, as well as war rewards and tokens.
Below I've added the screenshots of the war screens showing the deregistration and opted in members, as well as the chain of emails I exchanged with customer support. Suffice to say, I am now convinced that Customer Support has a language barrier problem when addressing English-speaking customers, and/or a complete lack of comprehension of this particular issue and perhaps even of DragonSoul in general.
@DSKenshirou_X, I understand you are very busy with other matters, but this issue has dragged on for a month now with absolutely no movement from CS. All I want is war tokens awarded that suit a top 50% finish, and 4 war rewards randomly selected based on what would be offered if we had finished the week with 12 wins (and we would have, trust me - we're rank #70 now and climbing in our 3rd week). Our guild is The World's End on server 1.
- Defensive opt-in was separated from offensive opt-in to address an issue with guilds gaming the GW system by opting out most of their guild and leaving only their best players in before each attack, then opting everyone in again after to maximize defensive performance. They made it so that if a player was opted out for an attack, they'd be opted out for the next attack from a rival guild.
