Just to confirm, these issues are indeed due to how the running war is trying to adapt to the matching changes in the new update.
This is indeed caused by the update being deployed during a running war, and this is causing the weird matchups you guys are currently experiencing.
Fighting a guild that is extremely underpowered compared to your own will net you 0 points due to how the points are calculated based on the Crown / ELO difference. The fully functioning matchmaking will not pair you up like this in the first place.
Next weeks Guild War will be based on this week's Crown Ranking - there will not be a "start rank" based on your registration, which avoids double assignment of ranks.
I understand that this rank will of course be influenced with how the current week's Guild War is acting up badly.
I believe that guilds that end up with additional crowns due to being overmatched on Defenses will rank high, but will therefore have to face the other high ranking guilds as well - that will gain extra crowns for defeating them on offense, as this week may have inflated their Crown Ranking / ELO.
This should allow the high ranking guilds to catch back up with guilds that simply profited from this matchmaking issue to increase their crown rank. The higher ranked guilds due to this inflation will also get less point increase from beating the other guilds that now have lower crown rank.
This should even out next week therefore if the increase in Crowns / ELO does not reflect the Guilds War strength.
We will also monitor the ranking on all servers.
The point difference for high ranking guilds will very likely not be as drastic, however the smaller guilds that ended up being matched repeatedly with the high ranking guilds due to their "start rank" (instead of the actual crown rank that will be used starting next week) will likely lose many crowns and ranks over this - they should be able to make this up as well next week, being matched with weaker guilds due to their then lower crown rank as well, and earning a lot more points for beating guilds with then higher ELO / crown rank.
