Desclaimer: I have restarted playing Dragon Soul one month ago after almost two years of stop and I am not eligible for the new sign in bonus for returning player (even if I am actually a returning player).
Eligible players: everyone who has not logged into the game for a long period of time (I have still to figure it out how much) and have restarted playing the game since the 1th of May.
Not new players.
So who is this bonus sign in helping exactly?
I guess that if you quit the game for a long period you won’t keep getting updated about the news. I guess you don’t visit the forums daily neither the Facebook page.
And I guess that because I quitted and I didn’t.
Maybe someone does it, but I think that would be only a few people.
So who is the target for this bonus?
Simply existing players who own more than one account on different servers and haven’t logged them for a long period of time.
The main goal seems to repopulate servers not by keeping the players of those servers in their own server (by helping them or by a more interesting gameplay), neither by bringing new players into the game. The goal seems just only to push multi-accounts and it doesn’t even do it well since it isn’t helping new players (I would have done a new account sincerely if it does).
It just helps a few “main” accounts, only the people who quit for a long period but kept updated.. how many could they actually be? You have to know this bonus exists to use it... on that game you deleted a long ago... ?????
So my question is:
Why aren’t you taking care of the people who play the game and have been left behind (because new or returning for real) and really wants to play it to a higher level?
This bonus is a great boost for experience and I really appreciate the effort you put in it, it’s good to know that you are at least thinking about this matter.
But is it really helpful? I guess it really isn’t. There are far better ways you could help new/returning player without letting the older and more dedicated ones frustrated about that.
I have put some down here http://discourse.dragonsoulgame.com/t/catch-up-mechanics-for-new-and-returning-players/15743/4 , but if you read the feedback in the forums there are a lot of great ideas directly from players (obviously you have to filter by your company’s interests) like the guild bank! Someone has given advice about new features and someone else has put a list of all the bugs that are ruining the gameplay.
A common thinking is that the patches with level raises and new heroes come too fast, while some patches with new features (new modes, new bosses, new legendaries, balancing, skins, etc.) would be far more appreciated.
In the end, since I work for a company too, I’ll tell you something you should never forget:
An happy customer is a good customer.
PS: I may seem salty, but I have put effort to write all of this because I hope this would help to figure it out that this system isn’t working very well.
