The more I think about this, the more I'm inclined to think that Dragon Slayer isn't an OP hero who has broken the game, but is in fact a much needed change. Maybe not the change I, and others, wanted, but a change nonetheless. I'll explain why.
One of our guildies asked "how do you counter this new hero if you haven't got her yet? My response was "it depends, which game mode are you fighting in, Pit, Coli or war/expo"? And that response is why I think she is not a game breaking hero and is in fact rather interesting.
In coli, she is trivially easy to counter, like laughably easy. In war and expo, likewise she is straightforward to counter but it depends on what's behind her. Which brings us to pit, where admittedly the counters require very specific hero and rune approaches. And yes, she looks likely to be a significant Pit presence and growing.
But how is that any different from the dominations of Medusa, or Pixie Queen (before the extra healing nerf), Horse (legendary skill), bone (legendary skill) and most recently archer (legendary skill)? All of which came to be staples in Pit in their day.
Well, it isn't. However Dragon Slayer has led to a much larger variety of Heroes being used behind her than those other, game changing, Heroes did. Besides that, she's great fun to play with
The meta is different but it is also much more varied than the previous ones and has brought about some radical changes to rune styles. And, let's face it, she only dominates Pit. Which by definition is supposed to be a test of players with the best Heroes and best rune configurations.
However, there is a problem. Crypt, drawing from Pit, is definitely going to be a nightmare of Dragon Slayers. But the fix to this, is something a lot if us have been shouting for a long time, draw from coli instead.
That's the fix I think I would most like to see.
