For a little while, I retired from the game. While I was retired, I picked up another rune system game called Summoner's War. The rune system there has probably one of the best systems I have encountered. Their rune system is similar, but also very different. When we look at our runes we have a few sets with damage, speed, or tank types, etc. On summoners war they have many more that we don't have such as a crit rate set or a counter set. Also, our bonuses on runes contain many more bonuses such as improved healing, life drain, larger shields, bashing damage, slashing damage, fire damage,.etc. and their bonuses contain simply defense, attack increase, hp, and even attack percentage increase, hp percentage increase, crit rate, crit damage, defense percentage increase, and speed. With those types of bonuses and adding more sets to the runes we potentially can better perfect our runes. Rid of the fire damage bonuses and the larger shields, etc., and instead put them into rune sets. The big disadvantage to this, though, is that all current runes will be wiped and I as well as many others will lose what we have worked so hard to build. On the plus side, we will be finally able to upgrade our runes and look at what the 3, 6, and 9, boosts are to the bonuses instead of "hope it's its not improved healing, hope it's not improved healing". It will decrease the random useless bonuses number (as there will still be useless bonuses, ex. being getting an attack or crit boost on a non attacking hero like dark horse) and increase in better fine tuned heroes (such as bard rune farming for attack percentage, speed, and crit rate). Another interesting way their runes work is using their currency to upgrade runes instead of runecite. Imagine us using our rotting in the bank gold to upgrade our runes.
