Ignoring FP, since everyone is in the top of that, every night I see multiple players from Chimera, Sticker Legion, HAIL GREE, Paradise Island, Drachenblut, Alamat, Rebel Alliance and a few specific players from La Familia, U30, Legacy, shortbusheroes. I'm sure I'm missing someone, but that's 11 different guilds - that's pretty good diversity!
If you tallied up all the players that spend time in the top 10, would the majority be from the top 3 guilds in terms of power? Yes. Is there something inherently wrong with the top players in the game holding the top spots in Coliseum?
Is this a bad thing? I think everyone's expectations of Guild War need to be changed; we shouldn't expect to go 12-0 with ease anymore. The reason that everyone is railing against this idea (and will rail against any idea that makes war more challenging) is because they don't want to lose. This idea would make war harder. Even the top "super" guilds would have a lot more losses. Is that necessarily a bad thing? Winning an offensive battle should mean something.
Well, right now guild war isn't challenging. Every week I go 36-0. Every week I have full red defensive logs. And yet, in Coliseum, I lose more than I win. Nobody is holding down a spot in challenger top 10 indefinitely, either, for the record. Moving (or removing) the minions would change that - instead of winning every single fight, I might actually lose! That would be exciting.
So ... maybe this is a dumb question, but what's wrong with the #1 guild on a server being hard to beat? What is wrong with having "super" guilds that win more than they lose?
You talked about changing the modifiers to make things more challenging ... if they made it just as challenging as this change, would you be in favor of that? If the "super" guilds were essentially unbeatable because of the modifiers? Wouldn't that be the same net result and people would quit over that.
Honestly it just reads like you don't want to lose. "Make it a little harder, but not hard enough that we actually lose any fights."
Can you give any examples of a modifier that you think would make war a good level of challenging? Even better - can you think of a change to GW that makes it more challenging and doesn't benefit the supposed super guilds on every server more than any other?
edit: The last two posters also made arguments based upon the fact that losing isn't fun:
I actually think he made some good points in the rest of his post regarding minions not working.
If lower guilds can't beat higher guilds ... maybe they are slotted where they belong?
