I know this is not a typical ticket request, but I promise I’m not being a troll. I am a guild leader of a Top 100 Guild in Server 1, and I am legitimately concerned about the future of this game. Players are quitting. And I’m not referring to moderate players who are trying a free app and then move on in their own way. I mean dedicated players—people who have invested money, with substantive VIP status. I am submitting a ticket, because I believe this can be fixed; but it needs to be fixed quickly, because players are leaving and doing so with increasing frequency.
I believe a majority of the problems can be summed up with one main issue: new characters/heroes are being dumped in too great a quantity, too frequently. This has then created a domino effect, negatively impacting the game in several respects. I am going to address these issues from my personal viewpoint, but rest assured, these are all issues that have been discussed ad nauseum in our private guild chat on Groupme and that have been shared to me by other guild leaders on Server 1 either in global/VIP chat, or in private chat.
(1) First, I don’t care about any of your new characters. Period. Do. Not. Care. I used to care, back when there would be one monthly character and maybe one character that was trickier to obtain. But that’s because there seemed to be more thought put into their release. There would be more discussion pre-release and an adjustment time once they were introduced. At the time, it wasn’t too long before a campaign was released that involved those characters. Now, by the time a campaign is released, there are about 10 more characters that were released since their introduction. You aren’t keeping up with the campaign. And it feels like the developers have stopped caring about the other characters that have been unleashed before you are focusing on the next exodus. Stop it. Please. We don’t need 3-4 new characters every month.
(2) Second, not all characters are created equal. You say that they are all equal, all the time. Stop lying. Stop lying to yourselves as much as you are lying to us. If all characters were created equal, there would not be dozens of heroes missing a legendary quest. You also wouldn’t have the same 5-8 characters being used in fight pit. It feels like you’re more interested in creating something new (or 4 somethings) with all the same problems than in balancing out the game and releasing campaign and upgrade material with the characters you already have.
(3) Third, not enough time is given to understand or get to know one newly released hero (much less 4) before the next hero dump is done. Due to the success of the game, max levels have steadily increased—we are now at a level cap of 110. It takes a lot of time and energy to build a character to be competitive at that level, especially when factoring additions like equipment and runes. It doesn’t help that there is no campaign to really experience the new character—instead we have to randomly pick one like a game of roulette and hope we don’t strike out. Sure, you released descriptions of what a character does, but it’s not the same as experiencing how the character actually works in game. But to actually experience how the character is in the game, you have to: (1) catch it up to your other characters levels (level 110 here I come!), (2) plus you have to catch it up with equipment (farming, yay!), (3) you also need to collect soulstones (more farming!), and after that (4) runes. Unless you do all four of these, the character is generally too weak to see its actual performance. Now do that with 4 characters, every month. It’s frustrating, and exhausting. It’s also impractical. Add that the character could go on for months and months without the equalizer of a legendary quest and it becomes just infuriating.
(4) Fourth, Crypt is ruined. Plain and simple. Everyone in my guild hates it. But because of all the soulstones we have to get trying to keep up with all of the new characters, we need all the coins and bonuses we can get. So we have to truck on and keep in there with crypt as best as we can. It used to be that a player could sign on and get crypt attacks done in 10-15 minutes. But because the number of characters have more than doubled, there are more lines and generally it’s harder—players have to make a lot more attacks and it means upwards of an hour of someone’s time just getting crypt done. Everyday. This isn’t even getting into tackling the war. In fact I’m not even going to complain about guild war in this ticket.
The biggest complaint I’m getting from a dedicated players before they leave is that the game is becoming work, and I can’t say I disagree with them. They usually message me saying the game isn’t fun for them anymore, and then they are gone—not to join a new guild, but gone from the game entirely. I have several dedicated players right now who are telling me they may not play the game much longer if the game function doesn’t improve. What keeps ME in the game personally is the guild I’m in and the players I enjoy it with. If they quit, In all honesty I’m probably out before too long as well. Please stop releasing new characters and please focus on the ones you have and releasing their legendary quests. And please look into balancing the crypt so it doesn’t take copious amounts of time to power through it. I lost another player yesterday—he played for over 10 months and said simply that the game wasn’t fun anymore. Please, start caring about current game mechanics more than you care about new content. What made this game stand out from the others was it seemed to be about the bigger picture—now it’s starting to feel like you are more interested in being another disappointing cash cow. Most phone app games that try and corner you into to forking out your money die out. People will pay for a good game. Believe in that and please, make that your focus again.
