Better Days To Come My regular epic saga...
Personally, I'm not a fan of diamond/stamina contests. They are flawed for multiple reasons to begin with. First off, I find it disconcerting that we're being asked to pay to compete in a contest. Effectively, the only way to advance in this contest is to dump a bunch of money into diamonds and jettison them at once for little reward.
Diamonds - Pay to win, simple as that. This amounted to about 50% of my points which is sad. I pay to compete and has nothing to do with my gameplay.
Stamina - This comes down to one of two things. Either you're an established VIP with many refreshes stored up (to which you use diamonds) or you burn through your entire inventory of stamina 60 packs. Either way, the amount of points rewarded is far too low. THIS is what the primary focus should be as it relates to the gameplay. It at least gives a fairer shot to all players within the meta. Spending 5,000+ stamina only amounted to 25% of my points
FP/Coli - FOURTH TIME REPEATING THIS COMMENT - "It speaks volumes about the condition of the game when the only way to receive fight pit/Coli points are for other players to 'lower their defenses'". Fight Pit and Coliseum need such an overhaul to be relevant without having to lower defenses. The percentage generated from this category is too small to be bothered.
Expo - See characters.
Characters - I fully support the established characters used in this contest (Revenant and Moon). I strongly disagree with Triple Threat for two reasons. For a very established guild, we had very few players who had Triple Threat at the start of the contest. It wasn't until late Saturday that we had 5-6 weak (O3 or below) floating around the hire board. In addition, this is another poorly constructed character and, since he's a front-liner, easily dies at all but the lower levels of expo.
The Good = Bazaar Tokens, Stamina packs, Diamonds, Crystal Shrines, Normal Double Drop, Triple Threat stones;
The Bad = Guild/Coli tokens; Gold Chests
The Ugly = Orangle/Purple chests, (3) mithril, (5) XP Decanters (five???)
FIFTH TIME REPEATING THIS COMMENT: Orange/Purple chests ARE USELESS! They have been USELESS since their inception. 99% of what I receive from these chests are items that I already have in excess of a 1,000 in inventory. If you choose to give these, it should be in multiples of 10 to ensure maybe 1 in 10 players will receive something useful.
Ore - The 600,000 gold generated by the ore is the same that most players receive in 2 or 3 crypt lines. It's also the equivalent of 6 silver chests or 5 skill points. It's just not enough to be significant.
XP Decanters - 5 * 7500 = 37,500 XP. THIS ISN'T EVEN ONE HERO LEVEL FOR MOST PLAYERS!
Thank you for removing raid ticekts!
Once again. the top 1% got decent rewards for their effort. Bazaar tokens, shrines, skins are generally nice. Most players are not playing this contest in the hopes of Gold chests. They could be nice but they need an overhaul to be more relevant. 60-70% of gold chests drop 3 useless soul stones.
I would also argue that for a weekend (3-day) contest, the rewards to the 5% to 75% categories were too low.
