Servers 3, 4, 5, 6
All got TL cap increases in the last couple weeks
is still growing. It will get its first TL cap increase in a couple weeks.
We are adding weekly modifiers to War to spice things up a bit. Each week a different modifier will be in effect. These modifiers give defenders a bonus, causing attackers to think differently and rewarding defenders who modify their defenses to capitalize on the current modifier. War Modifiers will affect active Battles as soon as 2.5 is released.
The four possible bonuses that exist are:
High Noon - Increases the attack speed of the defenders.
Pompey - Increases the fire damage of the defenders.
Armor Up - Increase Armor of some defending agility heroes. (Agility heroes have Agility as their core stat)
Steroids - Tanks have increased Fury. (Fury increases energy gained when attacked)
Additional bonuses coming in future updates!
War Matchmaking Improvements
I think we all can agree the current war matchmaking algorithm leaves some things to be desired. This update we have a brand new system. The new system makes the matches much more fair. It also removes any advantage for sandbagging (saving tickets for the weekend).
Nitty Gritty Details
Match on Rank: The new system looks at every guild's rank at the start of the week, then will match you with guilds that are close to you rank. Normally you will be matched with a guild that is within 7 ranks of your guild's' rank. The exception is guilds in the top or bottom 22 ranks can fight people up to 12 ranks away.
Equal Opportunity: In the new system, if a guild attacks you, you are very very likely to be given the opportunity to attack them as one of your 12 attacks for the week.
Snapshot Rank: The new system does all of the matchmaking based off your rank at the start of the week. The new system also now uses your crown score from the start of the week to determine how many crowns are won/lost when attacking. These two changes remove any benefit for saving your tickets for the weekend.
Purple/Orange Gear Improvements
We’ve gotten some feedback that the late-game gear grind can get a bit grueling. We agree, so we redesigned gear drop rates and hero gear usage starting from Purple +3 onward. This should make it easier and more fun to acquire gear and promote heroes going forward.
Higher Drop Rates
First, we increased the drop rates for all Orange and Purple scraps from 20% to 25%.
Second, starting with Chapter 11, we significantly boosted the drop rate for “older” gear, increasing it anywhere from 50% to 200% above the base rate. Older gear means items that were introduced in previous chapters. The older the item, the easier it will be to get. This helps focus the grind on newest and best stuff while making it easier to promote more heroes up to the current max.
To balance this out, we raised the scrap counts for a few high-end purple items from 20 to 50. We also made the blue Dead Eye item into a 50-scrap Purple item.
Full Gear Sets
Now starting at Purple +1 and up, you will always be able to get a full set of gear for your hero. No more promoting only to find the next item isn't in the game yet!
To help achieve this, we changed the color of a few higher end purple items to orange, and a few lower end orange items to purple. This is just a cosmetic.
More Balanced Gear Distribution
Currently there are some items you need A LOT of or that EVERY hero needs (hello Philters and Halberds!). This gets old. Not only do you never have enough of those core items, many of the other items feel useless.
To address this, we (thoughtfully) remapped the gear sets for all hero promotion levels Purple +3 onward, changed the crafting recipes for many of the higher level items and begun making use of the few currently unused items in the game. This results in much more balanced gear distribution across the board, which effectively increases the ease of promotion for all heroes starting with Purple +3. These gear will have a minor stat effect on heroes, which we have been careful to balance.
How does this affect your heroes?
Currently unequipped slots will automatically update to require new items as needed
Equipped slots will remain as is. But if a hero’s gear was remapped, its stats will automatically update as if it had the new gear as soon as you promote it.
For the heroes you were working on, you may have to start grinding for a few different items now. But you should also have some other items in your inventory that are now needed by heroes and can be immediately equipped!
Challenges and Boss Pit
We felt like both of these modes were dropping too much “junk” and could use a refresh. Now, while neither mode will drop items from the newest chapter, the items that they do drop will be more useful in promoting your heroes, especially up to the second highest rarity.
New Forums & CS Improvements
We have several new and improved tools for the community! This is an area we’re working hard to improve: from getting feedback, to fixing problems, to answering questions.
As many of you know, our forums were closed to registration. We’re excited to announce that our new forums, using a product called Discourse, are now available! Keep an eye out for upcoming events and announcements!
A few important points:
- You MUST register through the game - there is no external (web) registration
- Forum accounts are linked to game accounts automatically
- These forums replace the old forums AND Uservoice - it’s now one central site!
- UserVoice is being retired with 2.5. We have archived all of the feedback there.
What do I do the first time I enter Discourse?
- Open DragonSoul
- Tap your player portrait
- Tap “Community”. The new forum, Discourse, will open in your browser
Discourse will then create a username based on your in-game name. Each DragonSoul account will have a unique login name/account. At this time, your username cannot be changed once it is set.
Our CS ticketing system, like your favorite pocket monster, has evolved! For one, you will no longer be required to use an email client to submit tickets. In addition, your outstanding tickets will be accessible in game, where you can reply to them, see our replies, etc. This is the first step of many that we are taking to improve DragonSoul’s customer support.
New Customer Support Tool
While you won’t see this directly, we’ve built a brand-new tool to help investigate and update player accounts. Our new tool is more powerful, easier to use and less error prone. This should allow us to answer more tickets per day, faster. It will also allow us to continue to staff up our CS team so we can ultimately get ahead of the support curve.
Shield Bar Improvements
You might notice that the shield bars look smaller now. This is because they are now scaled based on the unit's maximum health. This will give a better idea of how big certain shields are.
- Example: So if a shield grants 2,000 health to a unit with 10,000 maximum health, that shield bar will be 1/5th the width of the health bar.
- Shield bar colors now indicate what kind of damage they block:
- Orange blocks Physical Damage.
- Purple blocks Magic Damage.
- White blocks both.
- Multiple shield bars also stack horizontally to show the total amount shielded.
Improved Hero Screen performance
As we’ve added more heroes to the game, the main hero screen has gotten chuggy on older devices. We did some refactoring to speed it up.
Improved time zone controls
We’ve never been totally happy with how DragonSoul handles time zone changes. So for 2.5, we made the default setting to never change your time zone. If you are going to be traveling for an extended period, move, etc. you can manually change it. But only once per month max. As a part of this work, we put a stop to manipulating time zones to get two Crypt Raids per day. Sorry folks, it’s only fair.
Crypt Attack Limit Change
We've replaced the Attack Limit with a Skull limit.
The limit now takes effect immediately, instead of for the next Crypt.
DragonSoul has a lot of heroes these days. It can be hard to find the one you want. We’ve added some additional sorting options the the main hero screen to let you display them by power, level, rarity, stars or role.
Some messages are more important than other. These will now sort to the top of your Message box. They also require you to open them to claim any attached rewards.
Rune stats toggle
We’ve added a handy toggle to the Rune Temple that displays the level and stars of all attached Runes.
VIP Soulmart refresh
VIP14: 2 Soulmart refreshes per day
VIP15: 4 Soulmart refreshes per day
Refreshes cost 250/500/750/100 Soulmart tokens
This isn’t something you’ll see, but we significantly upgraded the back-end tools we use to program events and sales. This should allow us to reduce configuration errors and free up more time for us to design cool stuff!
Mid-line damage hero who pulls the enemy backline to him using his long tentacles. Deals mostly physical damage and can stun and slow foes.
Back-line support dragon who can become invulnerable for short periods while buffing allies' armor and magic resistance. Can also stun and slow enemies, particularly those with high Agility.
Mid-line damage hero who uses her wiles and magic bag of tricks to manipulate her enemies while dealing heavy damage.
Doppelganger (coming in 2.5.1)
Mid-line control hero who can transform into an opposing hero for the remainder of a wave. When not transformed, deals light magic damage. Can also blind and reduce armor of foes, particularly those with high Strength.
New Legendary Skills
Orange: Moon and her allies gain energy while Radiant Flux charges.
Purple: Moon and her allies now gain Intellect instead of Skill Power.
Moon Drake has always been great in multi-wave modes, but has struggled in Fight Pit because she often dies in the middle of using her Radiant Flux active. Now, if she is killed or stunned in the middle of charging Radiant Flux, it will fire off immediately. Her new legendary also gives the entire team energy while she’s charging. Her purple skill will now also help her and her team’s survivability, due to the Magic Resist gained from additional Intellect.
Orange - Overcharge
New Legendary: “Overcharges while casting Radiant Flux, generating energy for herself and her allies every second.”
Old skill replaced with: “Her intrinsic light grants her and her allies intellect.”
White - Radiant Flux
Old skill improved: “If she is stunned or killed mid charge, it will fire off immediately.”
Orange: His attacks now break shields.
Cosmic Elf’s control abilities are moderately effective, but they often don’t do enough compared to other heroes that can kill foes outright. With his new legendary skill, all of Elf’s attacks and skills now destroy shields. This should given him some expanded use as a control hero who can also help wipe the other side.
Orange - Shield Disruptor
New Legendary: “Elf's skills and attacks now instantly break shields, dealing an extra true damage per shield broken.”
No changes this release!
